The Beginning
Today's society is packed with temptations lurking around every corner and misguidance is easily treaded upon on every sidewalk. This is the environment in which the Muslim youth are growing, learning, and meeting the fork between plummeting or prospering.
A lack of youth involvement and the concern
that existed amongst the community members caused a few brothers to realize the youth were slipping away and answered the call for action. In August 2003, by the will of Allah, Crescent Youth came to be. Initiating from
a single basketball tournament our events slowly spread from one location to another, gaining exposure through all of Houston.
Our mission is clear: To serve as a life preserver for
Muslim youth, allowing them to float just enough
so they may open their eyes to the evils around them,
and learn to swim. |

The Approach
Emphasizing aspects of Islam which are related
to the lives of Muslim youth is key in all our
programs. We stress on practical issues such as
zinna (fornication), drug abuse, and disobeying elders. These are coupled with spiritual issues such as forgiveness,
connecting with Allah, and
understanding Shaytaan (the Devil), which helps to provide
relevant material which can then be implemented
in their daily lives.
Our approach is simple: Present our Deen (religion) in a way
so the youth understand that it is a holistic way of
life. By doing this, the knowledge becomes more
applicable and Islam starts to make better sense prior to attending our programs.
We invite you to learn more about our golden
approach by browsing through
our events on this website. Attend one of our programs for an even deeper understanding and you’ll be sure of how CY's events set apart from all others. |
